Lewa Wilderness

Lewa Wilderness is one of the oldest safari ventures in Kenya, and the property and experience have been passed down through generations of the Craig family. Accommodation
The lodge has just nine exclusive cottages, six of which are on the hillside looking out across the Eastern Marania Valley, and the other three are surrounded by gardens. The layout of each cottage is unique, oriented to capture the views. You’ll lie in bed listening to the sound of the river, and look out from the windows at elephant, zebra, and occasionally even rhino coming to the water’s edge to drink. Every cottage has a cosy sitting area and fireplace, which can be lit on cooler evenings, a private deck, and also an en-suite bathroom.
The main living area is the sitting room, which has an eclectic selection of comfortable furniture and an open log fire. Meals are served in the open-sided dining room, and after dinner you can retreat to the main house to read, enjoy a drink, or play billiards. Keep fit in the gym, the pool, or on the tennis court, or by taking one of the lodge’s 30 horses and ponies out for a hack in the reserve.

By staying at Lewa Wilderness, you are supporting the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, which continues to run one of the most successful rhino protection programs in Africa. The survival of this iconic species rests on long-term solutions that involve local people, securing its habitat and reducing demand for its horn.
Environment
Environment
Lewa Wilderness has banned plastic water bottles, replacing them with reusable bottles and the lodge itself runs entirely on solar power. Furthermore, 80% of the fruit and vegetables provided to guests is from the camp's own organic garden with the remaining 20% obtained from local farmers.
Community
Community
Lewa Wilderness has been instrumental in setting up the Lewa Education Programme (LEP) to help local children get a good education and teach them the importance of wildlife. The LEP sponsors 18 schools and 6,000 students. A visit to a school can be arranged during your stay!
