Jaci’s Lodges Introduces Birding Safaris
Feb 21st, 2013 by Michelle Wright
Here at Africa Exclusive we’ve been hearing lots from camps and lodges about exciting new safari ventures for this year, so we thought we’d share another with you today!
Jaci’s Lodges will be hosting a series of special birding safaris in 2013, hosted by specialist birder, Martin Benadie. Martin will take keen birders deep into the Madikwe Game Reserve, home to over 300 different species of bird, many of which are endemic to the area. Madikwe itself is huge; 75,000 hectares to be precise, of prime birding habitat. So there’s a lot to explore and see on these unique African safaris.
Martin said: “The birding safaris held at Jaci’s Lodges in Madikwe aim to identify as many species possible, while also allowing participants to garner a better understanding of the ecology of our local-occurring birds.
“These safaris are also ideal for those wanting to spend a bit more time photographing these often frustrating subjects. Understanding bird behaviour better and where to search for certain species will make you a better bird photographer, too.”
As well as learning more about the birds and practicing your photography you’re also invited to try out the latest in birdwatching technology during your trip, including telescopes and binoculars by Swarovski Optik.
There are dates for the birding safari throughout the year, in March, May, July and November.
