Gorilla Forest Camp is your only chance to actually stay within the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Here you feel very much a part of the forest, its flora and fauna surrounding you, and you might well spot mountain gorilla without even leaving the camp.
Accommodation
Gorilla Forest Camp has been designed to blend seamlessly into this most atmospheric of environments, carefully-appointed towards the misty valleys and looming, forest-clad mountains. Gorilla frequently wander into the camp, making for an incredibly close encounter!
Accommodation is in eight double tents, raised on wooden platforms, each with en suite facilities, hot and cold running water, and a bathtub looking out onto the forest canopy. Each tent has a spacious wooden veranda where you can relax, enjoy a private meal, and absorb the exotic mystery of the surrounding rainforest. You will be served by a personal attendant who will ensure that your stay is truly memorable.

During your stay at Gorilla Forest Camp there are many other activities you can enjoy around your gorilla trek. One of the main focuses here is the Batwa culture and you can spend a full day discovering their way of life.
Watch a musical performance, be visited by the goddess and have a demonstration of hunter gathering giving you an authentic insight into their lives.
You can also enjoy forest walks encountering forest elephant, giant forest hog, antelope and the 11 primate species in the region.
Head off with your guide on a game drive to the Queen Elizabeth National Park to spot the tree climbing lions, buffalo, warthog, hippo, savannah elephants and even the occasional leopard.

Community
Gorilla Forest Camp’s parent company, Sanctuary Retreats support the Bwindi Ebenezer Primary School. The challenge of meeting the educational needs of a growing community, and establishing a new school, can be daunting for any community – and all the more challenging in one of the most remote corners of Uganda. Sanctuary Retreats are working to help the parents and teachers at the school build sufficient infrastructure including replacing the roof, building three new classrooms, building proper toilets, buying new furniture and text books, and helping to establish baseline salaries for the teachers.
Community
Gorilla Forest Camp is proudly involved with the Bwindi Community Hospital and Victory School in the area, supporting them through various projects. A perpetual shortage of nurses has had a serious effect on the impact of the hospital, a facility that literally began under a tree a decade ago and, with the help of Gorilla Forest Camp, has grown to a 112-bed facility providing health care for 40,000 patients annually.
Community
The Bwindi Women Bicycle Enterprise provides local women with the opportunity to earn a much-needed income while also giving their community vital access to transportation. In addition to being a viable business model, the bike shop serves as a social enterprise, setting aside a portion of the profits to be used in charitable initiatives in the community such as the school fee sponsorship of orphaned students, and investments in local health care and conservation initiatives. Sanctuary Retreats supports the initiative by restocking shipments to the bike shop on a regular basis.
