Why Murchison Falls?
As the Victoria Nile snakes through the landscape, it arrives at a narrow section of rock through which it bursts and falls 43 metres into the gorge below. This is Murchison Falls – equally compelling when viewed from above or below. Make a day of the falls with a boat ride from Lake Albert, or spend time hiking through the savannah grasslands while looking out for birds. There are 451 bird species in Murchison Falls National Park and birding is great year-round, but is especially exciting during the dry season months of January through March.
Classic plains game can be found here, too. A Murchison Falls safari yields exciting glimpses of buffalo, Jackson hartebeest, giraffe, hyena, warthog, lion and much more. Uganda is an underrated safari destination, which only means your experience will be exclusive and filled with unexpected surprises.

Best Places to Stay in the Murchison Falls National Park
Paraa Safari Lodge
Paraa Safari Lodge is one of Uganda’s longest established lodges, founded in 1954 in the wildlife-rich Murchison Falls National Park. The River Nile cascades some 43m into a 6m wide gorge nearby, which is a natural phenomenon like no other.
Baker’s Lodge
Baker’s Lodge takes its name from the English explorer Samuel Baker, but it is as far removed from England as possible.
