Mana Pools

In the far north of Zimbabwe, Mana Pools National Park comprises the southern bank of the Zambezi River. Why Mana Pools?
Rising early for a morning boat safari through Mana Pools is an experience you won’t soon forget. Large populations of elephant, buffalo and antelope come for a drink and hippos begin to stir, their grunts echoing across the marshy plains. As the sun takes its position in the sky, crocodiles emerge from the depths to recharge in the sun.

The important biodiversity found in Mana Pools National Park has earned it UNESCO World Heritage designation. Over 350 species of birds flock here – including white African skimmer, Pel’s fishing owl and incredible colonies of carmine bee eater, which nest in the sandy riverbanks. There’s always something to see at Mana Pools, and safaris can be in the form of walking or canoeing as well as traditional open vehicles. You might get especially lucky and witness the ‘dancing’ elephant of Mana Pools, which stand on their hind legs to reach the luscious leaves found on high branches.

A Safari Like No Other

There are few other safari destinations that offer the sheer diversity of landscapes that Zimbabwe does. The cascading waters of Victoria Falls and forested banks of the Zambezi River contrast with the arid open plains of Hwange and the rugged mountain terrain of Matusadona. Together, they create a completely unique safari experience.
