There is plenty of good, easy to take medication which protects you against malaria. However, if you want to consider a family safari in a malaria free area we can easily arrange one. Malaria free safaris are available only in South Africa in areas such as Madikwe and the Garden Route.
On a South African safari, you usually get to see the Big Five and a wide variety of wildlife easily and in comfort. The wildlife reserves are smaller than in other parts of Africa, giving your family great opportunities to see big cats, rhinoceros and elephant.
We can arrange a family safari to lodges with special child focused activities like Tuningi’s one hour “bumble” game drive. The drive focuses on a couple of waterholes where the rangers know there will be exciting animals. They can fill in a special checklist of animals and birds and be helped to take photographs they’ll treasure. After a delicious lunch they might have a treasure hunt walk with a ranger seeking out elephant dung, the “small five” finding out how a five-foot-high termite mound works. It’s great fun and they’re learning all the time. Really small ones can also have a baby sitter while the older ones go on a game drive.
The accommodation is truly amazing. The best South African lodges take a limited number of guests in great comfort. There are pools, superb meals, games, luxurious space to relax, a TV if you want it. There are two-bedroom air-conditioned suites with two en-suite bathrooms and living area. Often there will be other families for you to meet, but if you prefer privacy we can also arrange a private lodge with your own chef pool and private facilities.
