Baraza Resort and Spa

Palatial in style, Baraza is a resort that is reminiscent of the children’s tales Arabian Nights. A stay in Zanzibar is a relaxing accompaniment to an exhilarating Tanzanian safari with just as many activities, for parents and youngsters alike. Choose to spend your days diving and snorkelling among the coral reefs or windsurfing across the waves.

If an island escape is in your cards, then you might consider Baraza, an elegantly Arabian, all-inclusive resort in Zanzibar. It’s immaculately styled with handmade furniture, arches, brass lanterns, and exotic design. There are just 30 villas, and we’ll arrange for one with two bedrooms for your family. Each has freestanding bathtubs, spacious terraces, and their own private plunge pools.

Baraza is conscious of the precious nature of family travel and caters to all ages. Younger children will laugh their days away splashing in the pool and building intricate sand castles, or playing games in the Kid’s Club. Older children and teens will love The Water Club where a range of activities follow the rhythms of the tides. At low tide, you can play volleyball, frisbee and football on the beach, bike through quaint local towns, enjoy reef walks, and maybe try a snorkelling excursion. High tide is when you take to the seas — kayaking, sailing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, and paddle boarding.

Baraza’s Rising Sun Dive Centre is the only Padi 5* Gold Palm and National Geographic Dive Centre in Zanzibar. This was the first to explore the southeast edge of the island and offers inarguably the most exciting diving in the area. The guides tailor your dives, with small groups of no more than six people to avoid the crowds. Once underwater, you will swim amongst over 400 species of fish, revelling in the enchanting underwater world before you.
