Benguerra Lodge

Just off the coast of Mozambique lies Bazaruto Archipelago, a string of brilliant white sandy islands with palm trees and lush tropical vegetation. The largest of these is the 11-km-long Benguerra Island surrounded by pristine white beaches, while in the centre of the island are areas of grassland, forest and small rivers, which support a wide variety of birds.

There are three different kinds of accommodation at Benguerra Lodge and these include two cabanas, ten casitas and finally a sumptuous private villa. All of the accommodation benefits from attractive hand carved furniture, has a beautiful en-suite bathroom and extensive private decking with a plunge pool and sun loungers. All accommodation is gloriously romantic and you are literally only a few steps from the beautiful beach. The huge private villa is ideal for families and has two bedrooms, a large lounge and a private wooden deck with a swimming pool. Guests staying at the villa also have their own personal chef to prepare meals to order or you can dine in the dining lounge with other guests if you wish.

There is a wide range of activities that can be enjoyed here including scuba diving, snorkelling, sea kayaking and horse riding, as well as game fishing and fly fishing. The lodge can also arrange dhow cruises which are excellent as the sun begins to set, cast away picnics and vehicle trips to explore the island and watch the birdlife, which includes rare species such as the crab plover, the olive bee-eater and the green coucal. Surrounding the island are over twenty wonderful dive sites and many more excellent snorkelling locations teeming with beautiful fish and coral, and in order to protect this environment the island has been declared a national park for over 30 years.
