Bisate Lodge

Bisate Lodge perches on the edge of the Parc National des Volcans, within the eroded, forested cone of an extinct volcano. Its vantage point provides unrivalled views of the distant Bisoke and Karisimbi volcanoes. This is one of Rwanda’s most luxurious bases for gorilla trekking.

Luxury Forest Villas

The six Forest Villas are discreetly secluded among the forest slopes. Their unique exteriors call to mind a gorilla’s nest. The interiors are luxuriously furnished with local hardwoods and emerald accents. A plush king-size bed, large lounge and sumptuous en-suite give you plenty of space to unwind each day. From your veranda, the valley views are often cloaked in gossamer rainforest mist.

Sustainable Luxury Interior Design

The main area of the lodge is equally stylish with a large lounge, bar and dining area with extensive outdoor decks to enjoy the spectacular views. The lodge is undeniably opulent and also boasts great eco-credentials. Sustainably built in partnership with local communities, Bisate has an active reforestation programme. During your stay, you can help plant saplings one day, rewarding yourself with a massage the next.

Unforgettable encounters and intrepid activities

Of course, the reason for your stay will be an unforgettable gorilla trek and indeed it is life changing. Looking in their eyes, you see an almost-human understanding. You won’t want to miss other excursions though. There are visits to the local Iby’wacu village, the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, the lava tunnels of the Musanze Caves, Dian Fossey’s grave (made famous by the film ‘Gorillas in the Mist’) and treks to see endangered golden monkey, too. There are also guided birding walks, where you'll see myriad jewel-toned tropical species.
