Chief's Camp (Geoffrey Kent Suite)

It’s no question that Botswana, Africa’s most exclusive safari destination, has its share of stunning camps. The Geoffrey Kent suite at Chief’s Camp takes luxury to lofty new heights and is the perfect abode for discerning families. Set on pristine Chief’s Island in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, the only word that can sufficiently describe this safari-chic haven is palatial.

The Geoffrey Kent suite at Chief’s Camp is huge — 6,673 ft2 to be precise. Staying here gives you the luxury of two private pavilions, your own bar, boma, lounge and kitchen. Not only that, but you’ll be attended from the moment you arrive to the time you leave by a private house-keeper, waiter, chef and guide, and you’ll take your game drives in your own open-sided vehicle. The suite can sleep up to six guests comfortably and the huge, sweeping layout ensures everyone their own space.

Before embarking on your first game drive, you might choose to visit the orientation room at the main lodge. Here your family will learn all about the seasonality of the Okavango Delta, becoming acquainted with its rich flora and fauna. Since you’ll have your own guide and vehicle, you can spend as long or as little time as you like navigating the wetlands, both day and night. Chief’s Island is known as the predator capital of Africa. It’s home to some of the densest populations of leopard, lion, cheetah and hyena in the delta. You’ll also spot all the usual characters, from playful elephant to splashing herds of red lechwe, zebra and wildebeest. Even rare black and white rhino thrive on the seasonal island.

The fun doesn’t stop there though. Should you like, we’ll arrange for your family to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the delta on a scenic helicopter ride. Mokoro rides are available when water levels rise, where you will gently glide through the papyrus-lined waterways. In between activities, you might enjoy an invigorating spa treatment, while younger children can spend some time in the lodge play room. There’s all sorts to keep them occupied here. Insect specimens, fancy dress, a foosball table and even a PlayStation.
