With a maximum of 16 guests, you are assured personal attention in a relaxed atmosphere. Each of the 10 double or twin-bedded Meru tents are comfortably appointed, with a veranda from which to enjoy the view. Water is of high quality, but in short supply, so you’ll enjoy eco-friendly hot bucket showers. The simple comforts at Etendeka offer the breathing space to fully immerse yourself in such an incredibly rugged natural surrounding.
Etendeka was founded over 25 years ago in partnership with the local Omantendeka and Anabeb communities. This joint venture has proven highly successful, providing mutual benefit to the lodge and local people, as well as the wild places they protect. Many of your guides are expert naturalists from local villages, who will share with you their incredible passion for the natural world they call home.
Explore the arid plains surrounding camp on a game drive, absorbing the diversity of the region and spotting desert-adapted wildlife. If you enjoy walking, you can either set off on a self-guided sundowner walk to the top of a hill, enjoying the beautiful viewpoint or take a guided nature walk one morning to understand in more depth the flora and fauna, discovering the smaller creatures sharing the land with you. Back at camp, you can stargaze, as your hosts point out constellations and show you the brightest star in the sky — Sirius.
