The Loisaba Star Beds are set within a spectacular natural environment. It is the perfect place in which to relax and explore, and is also a prime location for spotting wildlife due to its rich and varied ecosystems. Throughout Loisaba roam the second largest population of elephant in Kenya, lion and leopard alongside the rare northern species that thrive here. Whether you are out on a walk or game drive in the daytime, or lying awake listening to their calls at night, you will constantly be aware of their presence, remembering that you are a guest in their lands.
Each star bed at Loisaba is dramatically designed on a handcrafted wooden raised platform. The homemade four poster mukokoteni (a uniquely designed bed on wheels), can either be wheeled out onto the open deck area for a night sleeping under the stars, or left under the shelter of the roof. This gives you maximum flexibility, especially if there is an unexpected change in the weather. Each platform is en suite. Just because you are immersed in the vast wilderness of Kenya doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on comforts! The bathrooms have flush toilets, double basin vanities, and a solar heated rainfall shower.
In addition to the star bed, which is an entirely private experience, there are separate areas shared between the guests. These include a lounge with polished wooden floors and high ceilings, decorated in an authentic Kenyan style, and a dining area where you will be hosted by local Samburu and Laikipiak Maasai warriors. They wear their traditional attire and will be thrilled to regale you with stories about the bush and their everyday way of life. When you do return to the lodge after your night outside, there is a large wooden decking area ideal for sipping cold drinks while admiring the view and a stunning infinity pool.
