Overshadowed by Mount Kilimanjaro, the Amboseli National Park is a beautiful area for viewing an abundance of wildlife. Elephant abound in the lower forest and swamp areas, hippo in the pools and lion lurk in the reeds and papyrus around the swamps, awaiting their prey. Cheetah can be found on the salt flats, giraffe wander through the doum palms and bird life is prolific. Tortilis Camp is set on a private conservancy, in an idyllic location on the edge of the national park.
Luxurious Thatched Guest Tents
The camp has 16 luxurious tents under thatched canopies, each with comfortable beds, traditional-style textiles and writing desks and, of course, en-suite bathrooms. Each tent has views towards the towering snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, making this one of the best located camps in East Africa. There is also one spacious family tent with two en-suite bedrooms and a large game viewing deck, perfectly positioned to relax and enjoy the views.
Well-Appointed Guest Areas
For those wanting complete privacy,there is a Private House which consists of two separate bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. There is a spacious dining room, lounge and veranda. The house and the family tent share use of a private swimming pool, making the combination of both units ideal if you have a larger group.
Exciting Game Viewing in Amboseli
The standard of management and cuisine at the camp is excellent and between game viewing you can relax in the pool or watch elephant and other animals wandering by. During game drives, you will safari among big cats, buffalo, hippo, birds and plains game, in the company of expert guides both during the day and at night. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, head out on a camel ride or a nature walk before winding down in the evening at a beautiful sundowner spot or enjoying a meal out in the bush.
