Xaranna Camp sleeps a maximum of 18 guests in nine sleek and comfortable tented suites with breath-taking views over the channel. The suites are furnished to a very high standard and each has excellent facilities including an en-suite bathroom, an outdoor shower, a romantic sala and a private plunge pool.
In the intimate guest sitting area, a wooden deck overlooks this virgin ecosystem - clear lagoons with their resident hippo and crocodile, verdant grass flood plains teeming with red lechwe and zebra, and everywhere the profound spectacle of some three-hundred species of bird life. With a crackling fire burning nearby, this is the ideal place to enjoy drinks and appetisers as the setting African sun makes its glorious, colourful departure in the west. The dining room has equally impressive views, and you can even watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen as they prepare flavoursome meals.
Because Xaranna is set on a private wilderness concession that spans 25,000 hectares you see no other tourists and can enjoy a number of different safari activities, including game drives by open vehicle, during the day and at night, mokoro (dugout canoe) trips, boating and guided bush walks.
