You will meet some inspiring people on safari, starting with your guide. Their passion for what they do and their zest for life is boundless. Your guide will have “bionic” eyesight and an encyclopaedic knowledge of every animal, bird, tree and insect. They adore their work and are as excited by each animal encounter as you. They love guiding families, and have a gentle sense of humour and warm personality.

The small, exclusive camps that we use have superb staff. Everyone in camp, from chef to cleaner, to camp manager makes you feel truly welcome. They are always happy to chat, to invite the kids into the kitchen to bake a cake and exchange stories about everyday life. They love their work, they enjoy people and are highly trained. You will arrive as guests and leave as friends.

As you cross the Serengeti looking for big cats, you may see a couple of Maasai walking nonchalantly across the plains. Some private wildlife reserves are operated in partnership with local communities and it may be possible for your family to visit a village to see their way of life. If you are interested in tribal culture, we can arrange for you to stay a while with a tribe such as the Wahadzabe hunter-gatherers who live by Lake Eyasi.
