Parc National des Volcans

Hailed as the definitive location to track mountain gorillas, Parc National des Volcans is home to approximately half of the world’s population. These endangered animals move freely through the dense rainforest, and tracking them with an experienced local guide is a second-to-none experience. You can also see rare golden monkeys swinging between the trees and observe hundreds of species of colourful birds.

Hiking enthusiasts will enjoy a trek to the Mount Bisoke crater lake, an otherworldly landscape inside a dormant volcano. Excellent hiking trails and climbing opportunities can also be found in the biodiversity hotspot that is Virunga mountain range with its swamps, forests and fields. Parc National Des Volcans is perhaps the finest example of why Rwanda is known as the land of a thousand hills.
