To call these palatial suites tents is really to do them a disservice. Yes, their walls can be made of canvas, but more often than not they are raised up from the ground on wooden platforms, have king size beds and campaign furniture, and are decorated with hand woven rugs, fine fabrics, and objets d’art. Fret not about the prospect of a bucket toilet: your en suite bathroom is far more likely to have a free-standing vintage bath, an outdoor rain shower, a fluffy bathrobe, and organic toiletries.
Honey Bear Bush Camp is a traditional camp offering a classic safari experience. It’s entirely unique, though, in that you can track chimps here too. This waterside camp is also the only one in the entirety of the Kyambura Game Reserve, so we really do mean it when we say you’ll have the wilderness all to yourselves!
For unforgettably close encounters with massed-ranks of elephants, Nehimba is unsurpassed. In the dry season, they are drawn in their hundreds to the waterhole at the centre of the lodge and have even claimed ownership of the swimming pool.
