Pool Area Little Kulala Sossusvlei
Little Kulala is the gateway to the towering dunes of Namibia's Sand Sea. The luxurious, climate-controlled kulalas blend into the natural environment and the textures and colours of the decor are inspired by the surrounding desert environment.

Little Kulala is one of the most luxurious lodges in Namibia. Each of the suites is large and set on a vast area of bleached decking into which is set a private plunge pool, enabling you to relax in privacy and enjoy the views towards the dunes.

Your suite showcases a large bed (king size or two twins), elegant furnishings and an en suite bathroom. On two sides it has floor-to-ceiling windows and the whole thing is set under quite a quirky, circular thatched roof so that it resembles a updated version of a traditional native kulala. Each suite also has a flat roof top “skybed” where you can choose to sleep out, marvelling at the galaxy above.
By day, expert guides will take you on drives into the towering Sossusvlei dunes, fascinating desert walks and even unforgettable morning hot-air balloon trips.

Another of the salt pans worth seeing is Deadvlei, where even in the dry season oryx, springbok and ostrich can be seen wandering, feeding on the sparse vegetation along the watercourses. This is a singularly beautifully wild and romantic spot, surrounded by dunes that extend as far as the eye can see.

Conservation
Conservation
Little Kulala has played an important role in the creation of the Kulala Wilderness Reserve. As the area had previously been used for subsistence goat farming, wildlife was very scarce. In the mid-90s, when Wilderness Safaris started operating in the local area, a programme was launched to remove internal fences in order to recover the health of the ecosystem which brought wildlife back.
Environment
Environment
Research activities have been undertaken to assess the rehabilitation of this 37,000-hectare area after years of intensive subsistence farming. Almost 20 years ago, the Small Carnivore Research Project studied bat-eared foxes on the reserve as an indicator species for land rehabilitation, followed by studies on aardwolf, black-backed jackal, Cape fox and African wildcat. Today, the area is home to a wide variety of endemic wildlife species.
