Jozibanini Tented Camp
Location
To get here is reassuringly challenging, involving a journey with a purpose: a “pump run” on which you will be resupplying the rangers at remote boreholes.
Accommodation
There are just five reassuringly rustic and robust tents for guests, each on a raised deck, all the better for wildlife viewing. You’ll also find an open-air ensuite bathroom with a flush toilet and bucket shower providing solar or fire-heated water to wash away the dust of the day.
In the spirit of a true safari, you will find that all meals are served outdoors, but that does not mean that you will be subjected to a crude diet. You’ll be amazed by what banquets can be rustled up in the bush, and you certainly won’t go hungry. Added to this, there’s a steady supply of cool and refreshing drinks from the bar to counteract the Hwange heat.
Experiences
- You will enjoy high-action, low-impact game viewing in 4×4 safari vehicles in the company of expert local guides. It’s the perfect environment to tick off some of the Big Five.
- Walking safaris will add an important dimension to your experience. Your guide will point out important features of the land, plus small-scale flora and fauna.
- A mountain biking safari is one of the highlights of Jozibanini. How can you ride a bicycle through sand? The answer is that you’ll be riding on paths compacted by generations of elephants.
- The underground “Look Up” hide, fashioned from a shipping container, will provide you with unique photo opportunities of the unsuspecting wildlife. We recommend coming back at night to see the animals by moonlight.
- With migratory and endemic birds, there are over 400 species that you could potentially spot. Look out for Bradfield’s hornbill, Egyptian vulture, collared pratincole and the eastern black-headed oriole.
