Why Hwange?
You’ll see elephant everywhere you look, but you can also spot giraffe, zebra, buffalo, hyena and several species of antelope, plus big cats including leopard and lion. It’s also possible to encounter rhino and African wild dog with a keen eye and a bit of luck.

Birders will likewise enjoy the many splendours of Hwange Park, with southern ground hornbill, racket-tailed roller and a variety of raptors regularly patrolling the skies. Hwange is suitable for safari year round – animals are helped through the dry season with dozens of man-made waterholes – and is the perfect place to try a horse riding safari. This was the first national park to allow it and there’s nothing quite like riding through the bush, spotting wildebeest and giraffe from the back of a horse.
  • Expansive park with varied landscapes.
  • Elephants are in abundance.
  • Possible to see the Big Five.
  • Great for horse riding safaris.
  • Easy to combine with Victoria Falls.
  • Exclusive lodges provide privacy and comfort.

A Safari Like No Other

There are few other safari destinations that offer the sheer diversity of landscapes that Zimbabwe does. The cascading waters of Victoria Falls and forested banks of the Zambezi River contrast with the arid open plains of Hwange and the rugged mountain terrain of Matusadona. Together, they create a completely unique safari experience.
