Mpala Jena Private Villas
Location
Accommodation
For those who want even greater comfort and space, Mpala Jena’s two upstream villas each contain three suites, so there’s space for friends and family if you want. Distinctively topped by steep thatched roofs, domed in a style that wouldn’t look out of place in Puglia, the arched interiors are deliciously cool even on the hottest of days. With a private pool, butler, guide, and a dedicated safari vehicle, each villa is a venue for a bespoke Zambezi experience.
Experiences
- Drift along the Zambezi River on a wooden dhow sailing boat. Faster boats are also available for whisking you to Victoria Falls and also for river safaris.
- Mpala Jena staff take pride in their custom-built Land Cruisers, which have built-in reference libraries, and magical spaces for drinks and snacks. They’re the ideal vehicle for a safari with style and comfort.
- It would be almost impossible to come here without venturing to majestic Victoria Falls. Why not also check out Victoria Falls town, try bungee jumping, or go white water rafting?
- Zambezi National Park has a higher density of lions per unit area than any other park in Zimbabwe. Night and early morning drives should yield some sightings.
- Have a go at catch-and-release fishing. If you are here between June and December, it’s the season for Tiger Fish.
- Don’t forget the birds. Among the 400 species that frequent the area are some with names as fanciful as their appearance: Pel’s fishing owl, African skimmer, goliath heron, African finfoot, rock pratincole and long-toed lapwing.
From mysterious baobab groves, to the arid sands of Hwange, the balancing rocks of Matobo, and the awesome Zambezi River as it rages over Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe is a country that serves up all that could be hoped for in an African holiday destination.
There are few other safari destinations that offer the sheer diversity of landscapes that Zimbabwe does. The cascading waters of Victoria Falls and forested banks of the Zambezi River contrast with the arid open plains of Hwange and the rugged mountain terrain of Matusadona. Together, they create a completely unique safari experience.
Zimbabwe has been part of the story of Journeysmiths from the very beginning, and it remains one of our favourite places. It’s a country that guarantees an amazing safari experience that can be enjoyed in luxurious comfort.
