Matetsi River Lodge
Two of the suites have been specifically designed for families and consist of two bedrooms – one master suite and one twin-bedded room – connected by an enclosed passage-way and both with en-suite bathrooms.
The lodge’s design is exceptionally fresh, with imaginative touches from the copper clad bar in the lounge to the deep, round baths, the chandelier made of vintage Dinky Toys in the vaulted wine cellar to the cow skin rugs in the suites.
Buffalo and elephant do wander through camp to access the river, and there’s always something happening on the water, so you can watch wildlife straight from your deck or whilst taking a dip in your outdoor plunge pool.
When guests are not out enjoying exciting safaris, relaxation is very much the name of the game, so be sure to make use of the spa and to read in one of the many scenic riverside spots.
The delightfully creative menu changes daily: you might sit at a lantern lit table by the river feasting on unexpectedly delicious crocodile ceviche, accompanied by a glass of crisp South African white wine, or opt for a lavish picnic out in the bush.
During your stay, you will have the unforgettable opportunity to embark on an interpretive tour of the Victoria Falls. After your incredible exploration, you will be whisked away for a decadent afternoon of high tea at the renowned Victoria Falls Hotel.
Helicopter and microlite flights can be booked to coincide with a visit to the falls. These ‘flights of Angels’ give you a birds-eye view of this natural wonder and the chance to take some unforgettable photographs. For the more adventurous, white water rafting during low water periods gives you the opposite perspective as you take on the rapids beneath the Falls.
