Changa Safari Camp
Location
A stay at Changa is special in that you can experience bush, beach, lake, and land all together. This mixture of beautiful natural landscapes promises a unique experience involving tranquil candlelit beach dinners at dusk and exhilarating game drives at sunrise.
Wildlife viewing in the area is excellent with the populations of big cat, hyena, elephant, plains game, hippo and buffalo all thriving. Birds rule the air here, with 350 known species in the area, including Pel's fishing owl, night heron, spinetail, and narina trogon.
Mesh windows feature throughout, so the views over the park are in neverending supply. Your private veranda is equipped with a table and chairs, and a hammock that’s perfect for laying back in and watching as the sun sets over the Matusadona plains.
When it comes to dining, the camp’s owners really make the most of its remarkable location. You’ll enjoy breakfast and lunch al fresco on the wooden decking or even on the private beach, under the shade of the trees. Dinner is a candlelit affair in a different spot each evening. Food is prepared daily by the camp’s chefs using only the freshest ingredients and your menu will include a mix of classic and contemporary dishes. Never far from a sweet treat or a snack, you certainly won’t go hungry on safari here.
Experiences
- Game drives in a 4x4 vehicle are the best way to see the park and its residents - head out early in the morning for the best wildlife encounters.
- Spend some time relaxing on Lake Kariba, fishing for the famous tiger fish or drifting across the water on a peaceful lake cruise as the sun goes down.
- Those interested in wellness can try yoga outdoors, with the unspoilt bush as your studio, or indulge in a treatment at the camp’s spa.
- Walking opportunities are excellent here - get to know the area on a deeper level on a guided bush walk, stopping to learn about the finer details, or admire the breathtaking scenery as you explore the cliffs of the Sanyati Gorge.
- Avian enthusiasts will love bird-watching here, particularly on a boat where you can spot several waterbird species.

From mysterious baobab groves, to the arid sands of Hwange, the balancing rocks of Matobo, and the awesome Zambezi River as it rages over Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe is a country that serves up all that could be hoped for in an African holiday destination.
There are few other safari destinations that offer the sheer diversity of landscapes that Zimbabwe does. The cascading waters of Victoria Falls and forested banks of the Zambezi River contrast with the arid open plains of Hwange and the rugged mountain terrain of Matusadona. Together, they create a completely unique safari experience.
