Nyanga Aberfoyle Lodge Location

Location

You’ll find Aberfoyle Lodge deep within the Honde Valley, in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. This is a scenically spectacular setting with an undeniable sense of calm. You’ll be surrounded by undulating hills, home to flourishing tea plantations; unspoilt forest; and several magnificent waterfalls, one just ten minutes away from the lodge!

Be sure to pack your walking boots - this area is a delight to explore on foot and boasts excellent birding opportunities too. In the forest, a wide range of species can be seen (and heard!) including the red-capped robin, green twinspot and red-faced crimsonwing.

Accommodation

Each room at Aberfoyle is named after a local bird with interiors inspired by that particular species. The comfortable rooms are immaculately presented and feature an en-suite bathroom, desk, tea station and verandas looking out over the lodge’s golf course or the forest.

Should you require something a little more luxurious, we’ll book you into the Lesser Seedcracker Suite which, despite being named after a small bird, is incredibly spacious. The suite is decorated with a tasteful and subtle nod to the bird’s red and black plumage and features a large veranda where you can sit with a hot drink in the morning, taking in the beautifully green views over the golf course and hills. For families, we can arrange for you to stay in interconnecting rooms.
The main area of the lodge is equally well-presented with shining wooden floors, large windows and high ceilings throughout. Plush sofas adorn the cosy lounge area, the perfect spot for an afternoon spent sipping on hot tea (produced locally, of course) and indulging in freshly baked scones laden with cream and jam.

There are sporting activities galore here, ideal for family members who need to burn off some energy. Outdoors, you’ll find a large pool for splashing about in, but there’s both squash and tennis courts, darts, snooker and table tennis available too. The nine-hole golf course is one of the most famous in the country and, set amongst the lush greenery of the forests and tea plantations, offers a relaxing and serene experience. For younger family members, there's a mini golf course available too.

Keen to use as much organic and local produce as possible, the lodge has its own large vegetable garden. Ingredients for your meals are freshly picked from the garden.

A Safari Like No Other

There are few other safari destinations that offer the sheer diversity of landscapes that Zimbabwe does. The cascading waters of Victoria Falls and forested banks of the Zambezi River contrast with the arid open plains of Hwange and the rugged mountain terrain of Matusadona. Together, they create a completely unique safari experience.
