Nyanga Aberfoyle Lodge
Location
Be sure to pack your walking boots - this area is a delight to explore on foot and boasts excellent birding opportunities too. In the forest, a wide range of species can be seen (and heard!) including the red-capped robin, green twinspot and red-faced crimsonwing.
Accommodation
Should you require something a little more luxurious, we’ll book you into the Lesser Seedcracker Suite which, despite being named after a small bird, is incredibly spacious. The suite is decorated with a tasteful and subtle nod to the bird’s red and black plumage and features a large veranda where you can sit with a hot drink in the morning, taking in the beautifully green views over the golf course and hills. For families, we can arrange for you to stay in interconnecting rooms.
There are sporting activities galore here, ideal for family members who need to burn off some energy. Outdoors, you’ll find a large pool for splashing about in, but there’s both squash and tennis courts, darts, snooker and table tennis available too. The nine-hole golf course is one of the most famous in the country and, set amongst the lush greenery of the forests and tea plantations, offers a relaxing and serene experience. For younger family members, there's a mini golf course available too.
Keen to use as much organic and local produce as possible, the lodge has its own large vegetable garden. Ingredients for your meals are freshly picked from the garden.
- Thrill-seekers among us will love the canopy ziplining tour that takes you high up into forest’s treetops.
- For those looking for water activities, you can take it easy, think fishing or relaxed river cruises with refreshments on board, or get the adrenalin pumping on kayaking and rafting trips.
- Tea is a hugely important crop and business here and you can gain a deeper understanding on a tour of a plantation and factory, finishing off with a tea tasting.
- Take a guided nature walk through the forest, accompanied by the lodge’s renowned birding guide whose enthusiasm and knowledge is unparalleled.
- Families love visiting the nearby waterfalls, taking a refreshing dip in the natural pools and trying out the natural waterslide, before refuelling with a tasty picnic lunch.

From mysterious baobab groves, to the arid sands of Hwange, the balancing rocks of Matobo, and the awesome Zambezi River as it rages over Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe is a country that serves up all that could be hoped for in an African holiday destination.
There are few other safari destinations that offer the sheer diversity of landscapes that Zimbabwe does. The cascading waters of Victoria Falls and forested banks of the Zambezi River contrast with the arid open plains of Hwange and the rugged mountain terrain of Matusadona. Together, they create a completely unique safari experience.
