Beho Beho

Beho Beho is probably the finest safari lodge in the reserve, set in beautiful hill country overlooking riverine forests, miombo woodlands and plains. It was the first lodge sited in the reserve so has arguably the most privileged position, the most comfortable temperatures all year round, and the most superb views. Location
Nestled in the Beho Beho hills of Tanzania’s Nyerere National Park (previously Selous Game Reserve), Beho Beho is an oasis of calm in the midst of the African plains. It is also on a crossroads of animal migratory routes so it is not unusual to see wildlife within even leaving the comfort of the lodge, while the flood lit water hole in front of the camp also enjoys a lot of activity.

Accommodation
From every stone-built banda and every window at Beho Beho, you’ll enjoy captivating views of the game dotted plains, as well as Lake Tagalala in the distance. Each of the 7 cottages is elegantly furnished, with comfy beds and chairs to curl up in, en suite bathrooms and panoramic views through the open front.

These naturally ‘air conditioned’ bungalows are ideally situated; they are near enough to the main lodge’s excellent facilities, but are sufficiently quiet and secluded to ensure a peaceful stay, you even get your own private plunge pool for a moment for quiet reflection.

The resort’s main lodge house is beautifully in keeping with its surroundings. It has a thatched roof, beautiful furniture, and open air terraces, as well as a well stocked bar and outdoor pool. There is even a billiards room for a friendly post-dinner game or two!
Dining at the lodge is described as a ‘movable feast’. A real family-affair, where all guests and guides sit together on one big table, sharing stories and making friends. Each delicious meal is served in a different venue and matches the quality and attention to detail which goes into every aspect of this lodge.

For more exclusivity and privacy, you can stay at the Baileys Banda, an ‘owners house’ style private villa. This enjoys the same spectacular views as the rest of the camp, but is positioned far enough away from the ‘house-party’ energy of the main camp, providing a secluded hideaway. The two bedroom en-suite house enjoys its own plunge pool, viewing deck, kitchen (with chef), dedicated staff and its own safari vehicle.

Environment
Environment
Beho Beho have made significant efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. They heat all the camp’s water through solar power, remove almost all of the plastic water bottles in camp and are moving to running the entire camp from solar electricity.

The well placed camp allows for walking safaris or ‘game walks’ which has a minimal impact on the environment by having a smaller human ‘footprint’ and through the reduced reliance on fossil fuels to deliver an experience.
