Onguma Tented Camp
Location
Accommodation
The perfect way to relax is to recline in an armchair on the shady deck of your tent. It’s an environment of wood and canvas surrounded by trees and bush, through which the birds flit.
Beyond the tents, a refined main building, complete with canvas roofing over large deck areas, serves as the camp’s social hub. The stylish lounge is complemented by an elegant dining area, both of which are open-sided for those all-important views towards the waterhole. And just as the animals make a bee-line for their refreshment, the humans here enjoy a soak in the camp’s rim-flow pool, followed by a cool drink or two. If you need heat, there’s even a wood-fired hot tub.
Experiences
- There are two game drives each day. The morning drive tends to be in Etosha National Park, while the evening one – complete with sundowner drinks – is within the Onguma Reserve.
- Even when you’re relaxing between excursions, the waterhole is an ever-present wildlife magnet. You can see it from your own private deck, or indeed from anywhere in the camp.
- The camp has a dedicated wildlife hide, known as the Onguma Onkol Hide. Discreet and comfortable, with multiple windows and positioned for a close-up perspective, it’s the perfect place for epic photographs.
- The woodlands around the camp are great for walking safaris. Your expert guide will show you the landscape and ecosystem details that tend to be missed on vehicle safaris.
- Birdwatchers love Onguma. Between permanent and migratory birds, there are 300 species to spot., Our favourite is the secretive and strikingly beautiful Yellow-throated Sandgrouse.
- After a soak in the camp’s hot tub, why not also treat yourself to some massage therapy. It’ll rejuvenate you so you’ll be fully ready for tomorrow morning’s early game drive.
