Explora Valle Sagrado
The 44 standard rooms and six larger suites have panoramic windows, huge beds, a good desk and plenty of hanging space for outdoor clothes, along with – of course – excellent bathrooms. The clutter-free simplicity and abundance of wood greatly enhance the view into the landscape.
The menu in the lodge’s restaurant is designed for the active guests, most of whom will have burnt many calories during the day, but the food is equal parts substance and style. Expect to eat local specialities, including cushuros (an algae found at the bottom of Andean lakes) and some of the 4,600 variations on the native potato. We recommend the quinoa pancakes for breakfast.
- You will be spoilt for choice thanks to range of more than 30 excursions and activities available from the hotel. Staying in this lodge is a full-body and mind experience, so expect to be educated and stretched by the expert guides.
- Visit the fascinating archaeological site of Ollantaytambo.
- Search for ancient rock paintings on a trip to Valle de la Papa and learn first-hand about Andean textile traditions.
- The settlement of Pisac, with its Inca complex, market and botanic garden is well worth a visit.
- There are numerous bike trails. We recommend the option that goes via the Machu Kolka archaeological site.
- A vehicle tour to the Mara salt mines also includes the circular terraces of Moray, once the site of ancient agricultural research carried out by the Incas.
