There is a blend of old and new furnishings and many of the accessories have been made by San and Nama communities; authenticity, comfort and simplicity are key to the Lodge's unique ambiance.
The accommodation is in 20 private chalets dotted along the canyon’s edge. The interiors have a bedroom from which you can absorb the striking views of the landscape, large modern bathroom with the addition of an outdoor shower, deck and an outdoor platform where you can sleep out under the vast African sky with a billion stars above you.
The main lounge and dining area is open plan and has large windows letting in plenty of light and providing spectacular views to be admired from any spot whilst the fire crackles nearby. Open the doors of the lounge and you’ll find a large deck with seating and a rim flow pool to enjoy a dip overlooking the semi-desert landscape dissected by deep gorges of the canyon.

Along with fascinating and spectacular hiking trails, Fish River Lodge is also the only lodge that has 4×4 access into the heart of the canyon and experienced guides will show you the varied, unique geological features as you journey into the depths of the rift where you can enjoy lunch at the permanent rock pools — perfect for a swim during warmer days.
Late afternoon you may visit scenic viewing locations along the canyon rim from where you can enjoy sundowners as the sinking sun reveals a kaleidoscope of glowing colours across the landscape.
