Six Senses Bumthang
Location
The approach is a memorable journey through terraced farmland, deep valleys and mist‑wrapped mountain passes, where sightings of yaks, deer, wild boar and rare pheasants are common. Travellers pass the majestic Trongsa Dzong and descend into the Chumey Valley, famed for its vibrant Yathra weaving, before arriving at this tranquil woodland sanctuary.
Bumthang, translating as 'beautiful field', has Bhutan’s highest concentration of sacred historic sites.
Accommodation
Spacious balconies open onto panoramic valley and forest views, while warm, minimalist interiors feature soft woods, clean lines and a calming, cocoon‑like atmosphere. The two‑bedroom villa adds generous living spaces and its own private spa treatment facilities for deeper seclusion.
Dining centres on the all-day Tongtshang, where the chef celebrates local ingredients such as buckwheat, honey, barley, hazelnuts, mushrooms and freshwater algae. Expect authentic Bhutanese dishes, from yak cheese to pumpkin curry, alongside thoughtful international options.
Sunset refreshments on the deck and inventive cocktails at the living‑room bar, like the pine‑syrup Blazing Baab Chu, add to the lodge’s warm, convivial spirit. Breakfasts are equally memorable, featuring turmeric lattes, Szechuan‑broth noodles and Bhutanese comfort classics.
