Known as “the forest within a forest”, Six Senses Bumthang is the easternmost of Six Senses five lodges in Bhutan. To get here, you must pass over the picturesque Yotong La and down into the Chhume Valley, home of Bhutan’s famous Yatra weaving.

This remote woodland lodge features recycled wood furnishings, timber walls, and wooden floors. Choose from eight gorgeous suites, or opt for the more luxurious two-bedroom villa.

You can enjoy the peace and serenity of the surrounding Bumthang Valley from the comfort of their bedroom: Bumthang translates as “beautiful field”; a quick glance out of the rooms’ vast windows will explain why.

The lodge’s restaurant serves sumptuous dishes, making use of produce from the local Bumthang farms. Expect lots of buckwheat, dairy products, and honey, all of which are organic and have travelled but a matter of miles to be served at your table.

Natural local ingredients are also in use at the Six Senses spa and wellness centre, which offers a range of treatments as well as traditional hot stone baths.
