Every valley in Bhutan has its dzong and Gangtey is no exception. Gangtey Dzong is the largest Nyingmapa monastery in Bhutan, with 140 monks living, working and praying here. The monastery dates from the early 17th century and it is believed the black-necked crane circles three times before beginning their annual journey back to Tibet.
