Amazon Explorer
From enormous windows and stylish decks, the rainforest becomes a living, shifting panorama; one you can step into on skiff rides, forest walks and blackwater excursions. It’s immersive, effortless exploration at the modern edge of Amazon discovery.
Location
From July to early December, low‑water expeditions begin with a rainforest road transfer from Iquitos to Nauta, then navigate the Ucayali River to Clavero Lake and the Marañón to the Yanayacu‑Pucate River.
During high‑water season (December to June), voyages depart directly from Iquitos, travelling along the Amazon to the confluence before continuing to Dorado Lake and the Samaria River, eventually returning to Nauta for the road journey back.
Deep in the reserve, guests encounter mirrored blackwater creeks, pink and grey river dolphins, squirrel monkeys, sloths, poison‑dart frogs and remote riverside communities.
Accommodation
Its 12 luxury suites on the upper deck – four of which can be adjoined for families or friends – rank among the largest on any Amazon vessel, with wide picture windows that dissolve the boundary between river and room. Above them, two superior suites and a forward‑facing deluxe suite offer even more space and privacy, the latter with a sweeping balcony overlooking the bow of the boat.
Communal areas span the main deck, where guests find the dining room, gym, wellness space, Explorer Centre, media room, and the River Retreat – a tranquil aft lounging area with a pool set just above water level. The pisco bar on Deck 4 becomes the social heart of the vessel, while the top‑deck sundeck offers a splash pool and panoramic views, alongside the vessel’s extensive solar array, which supports its low‑impact operations.
A high staff‑to‑guest ratio ensures warm, attentive service, while excellent crew facilities on the lower deck help attract and retain some of the Amazon’s most experienced guides and hospitality professionals.
- Set out on skiff rides at dawn, searching for sloths, squirrel monkeys, saddleback tamarins and vibrant birdlife ranging from toucans and aracaris to herons and black‑collared hawks.
- Join a guided forest walk, spotting pink‑toed tarantulas, poison‑dart frogs, giant scorpions and huge water lilies while your naturalist reveals the secrets of the rainforest.
- Take part in an interactive cooking class with the yacht’s chefs, discovering the flavours and techniques behind Amazonian cuisine.
- Visit a riverside community to meet local shamanic healers, learning from them how they use medicinal plants and wisdom acquired through generations of living in harmony with the forest.
- Head out after dark on a nocturnal skiff excursion, searching for caimans, frogs and night creatures before stargazing under the pristine Amazon sky.
- Kayak gently along blackwater creeks, watching for pink and grey river dolphins and elegant wading birds along the banks.
- Explore El Dorado Lake at first light, enjoying a picnic breakfast, piranha fishing, howler‑monkey sightings and – if you’re brave – a refreshing swim in the cool, mirror‑still water.
