Namiri Plains Camp
Location
Spectacular grassy plains ripple to the horizon, punctuated by fever trees, acacias, and rocky kopjes. Secluded and isolated, about an hour from any other camp, it offers intimate encounters: lions roaring at night, wildebeest grazing nearby, a water source shimmering before camp, and the spectacle of the Great Migration from October to May.
There are eleven tents in total at Namiri Plains Camp, including one designed for families, each a gorgeous, spacious, contemporary retreat. Their silhouettes are defined by multi‑peaked canvas awnings, while volcanic rock walls and raised decks lend permanence and solidity.
Head to the communal area and you’ll find a stylish hub with deep sofas, an inviting bar, and a broad deck overlooking wildlife that often wanders close by. Neutral tones, natural materials and a mix of contemporary and traditional art create spaces that feel both eye-catching and harmonious.
Other facilities include a swimming pool with a prime position for game viewing, an indulgent spa area, and a library and information-media space to learn about the ecosystem you have come to observe. As for food, you’ll enjoy a dining experience honed by Alisia across all its camps in East Africa: generous portions, fresh ingredients, delicious flavours, superb service, unforgettable atmosphere.
Experiences
- Enjoy superb safari experiences on twice-daily game drives. You’re in an area renowned for its large population of big cats, and a dependable location for superb Great Migration scenes.
- For photographs worthy of National Geographic, you’ll appreciate the camp’s dedicated photographic vehicle. With swivel seats and a drop-down side for those low-angle shots, you’ll come away with awesome images.
- Take to the blushing pink dawn skies in a hot air balloon. To drift over the Serengeti in quiet elegance is an unmissable experience.
- See if you can find the rare melanistic serval that prowls the plains here. It’s named Manja, after the Namiri guide who first spotted him.
- The walking safaris at Namiri Plains are excellent. With few vehicle tracks in this area, this is the way to get deep into the territory.
- Treat yourself to some indulgent time in the camp. Between safari outings, soak in the pool or your tub, or have a massage in the spa.
