Location
Tafika sits in a game-rich and scenically beautiful portion of the park, with uninterrupted vistas of the river and bush in every direction.

You can expect excellent wildlife encounters, right from camp, with hippo and crocodile often basking in the river. Herds of elephant can be seen carefully wading through the water alongside the plains game, including impala, zebra and bushbuck, that stop by to quench their thirst. Small islands with reedbeds provide plentiful homes for birdlife too.

Accommodation
Your accommodation at Tafika will be one of six luxury thatched lodges considerately and carefully laid out beneath the trees.

Each is built and furnished with prominent natural materials and decorated with local textiles. Your cottage also has an en-suite bathroom with an outdoor shower.

To make the most of the camp’s position, your lodge has its own private veranda where you can look out over the glistening water and to rolling Zambian hills beyond. The perfect spot to sip a hot morning coffee before you embark on your day’s activities.
The camp’s main areas are equally appealing. A swimming pool offers a cool place to relax and refresh in enchanting natural surroundings when the day gets warm, whilst the patio and fire pit offers somewhere to keep off the evening chill before dinner.

Besides these outdoor spots, there’s also a bar and lounge where you can sit back and recount your adventures.

Meals are served either in Tafika’s dining room or out in the pristine wilderness, stopping for a barbecue on an unspoilt island in the middle of a day on the river, or ending your morning’s walk with a tasty bush picnic.

Conservation
Conservation
Inspired by the late David Back who worked in the Luangwa Valley for several years, a Football for Wildlife league was started by Remote Africa Safaris in 2015. The objective of the League is to build awareness and enthusiasm for wildlife conservation over a wide reach of the Luangwa valley residents through their abiding love of football.
Environment
Environment
Established in 1998, the Tafika Fund was set up to benefit the community and wildlife of the area. The fund has since been responsible for raising US$625,000 contributing to a medical clinic, school fees and wildlife protection. Tafika has contributed over half of these funds to student scholarships which have seen 457 students receive further education.

The Tafika Fund built an outpatient clinic in Mkasanga, which acts as a first aid centre for the 2,036 residents of Mkasanga. The clinic officially opened its doors in March 2006 and now includes an inpatient and maternity wing. A government medical officer oversees the clinic and tends to patients while the fund pays a monthly wage for an assistant to the officer.
