Tarangire

Over 2,500 elephants meander through Tarangire, but this park is also great for spotting leopard and admiring gigantic baobab trees that are hundreds of years old. Why Tarangire?
The dry season months between June and November are an excellent time of year to visit Tarangire National Park. Located close to Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley, Tarangire attracts thousands of elephants with its namesake river and surrounding lagoons. You can also spot giraffe, zebra, antelope, ostrich, lion, and troops of playful baboons. Don’t forget to look up – you just might catch a glimpse of a snoozing leopard or a fat python on a tree branch.

Tarangire is great for birdwatching, too. Some 550 species of birds enjoy this marshy playground. For a twist on the classic safari experience, try a bush walk or nighttime game drive on an adjacent private reserve.
