As you might expect from a rainforest, Semuliki attracts huge numbers of birds. Hundreds of species of endemic and migratory birds can be found in the forest, including rare Nkulengu rail, yellow-throated cuckoo and piping hornbill. Semuliki is also a valuable region for cultural connections – Batwa hunter-gatherer communities live around the perimeter of the park and visitors are invited to take part in music and dance performances.
- Only authentic tract of lowland tropical rainforest in eastern Africa.
- Ancient and biodiverse ecosystem.
- Natural hot springs.
- Cultural connections with Batwa communities.
- Good for birdwatching.
