Semliki Safari Lodge harks back to a time when safaris were only for the most adventurous, for those who want to escape the world and experience a more natural way of life. The lodge is engulfed by rich emerald forests, overflowing with countless bird species, river valleys that attract hippo and fish, and mountains, where bands of gorilla make their nests.
The central lodge has been decorated in luxurious style, with fine Persian carpets lining the floor and a swimming pool boasting panoramic views of the Blue Mountains. Guests are free to enjoy the natural privacy of 10 luxury tents, each with en suite bathrooms, plush beds and sofas, and endless views of the pristine valley.
When you aren’t savouring the scenery from your private veranda, you are sure to be sailing along the glassy waters of Lake Albert, with birds swooping down to catch their dinner, trekking through the lush valleys in search of gorillas and chimpanzees, or taking in some local culture at a Batwa village.

Environment
Semliki Safari Lodge is built from locally sourced natural materials so it blends in beautifully with its surroundings. In the evenings, lanterns light the rooms to help conserve energy consumption and a robust recycling system is used to minimise waste. Bottled water is supplied to all guests to reduce the need for purchasing plastic bottles.
Community
Semliki Safari Lodge work with the local communities on the edge of the reserve, communicating the benefits of conservation and involving them in the lodge operations including training them to be guides. Through the establishment of the Semliki Conservation Trust, they have also worked in the area of public health in the local communities, focussing on maternal nutritional health.
Conservation
Before Semliki Safari Lodge was built, the need for improved wildlife rangers was identified. Semliki Safari Lodge helped increase ranger salaries and we able to source new uniforms from Parks Canada surplus equipment: uniforms, belts, hats, sweaters, shoes and boots. An outdoor product company, donated a number of tents, sleeping bags and backpacks to enable the ranger force to go on patrol. Their anti-poaching patrols yielded results and the Semliki Valley Game Reserve started slowly but surely to heal and today continues to help protect the wildlife.
