Throughout the Avenue of Volcanoes you’ll find small towns with local produce and handicraft markets, and heritage railway fans should be sure to include a journey aboard the Devil’s Nose Train. This is a hair-raising ride through switchbacks between Quito and Guayaquil, changing 500 metres of altitude in just 12 kilometres.
