Casa Real Santa Rita
You’ll stay in one of 11 rooms and 5 luxurious suites. The hotel’s interior is lavish and elegant, in keeping with the 19th-century tradition of the house, but has been recently refurbished to provide every comfort for its guests; it’s a perfect mélange of old and new.
Casa Real’s reception rooms are exquisite, particularly the Bishop Room and Games Room. They are all furnished in a style which the 19th-century landowner, resident of this house, would have approved of wholeheartedly. Gilded mirrors, plush red curtains, and crystal chandeliers adorn each room.
The hotel’s restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining options, with a menu based on the finest seasonal ingredients, many of which are sourced from the surrounding estate. As you would expect, the dishes are designed to enhance the experience of enjoying excellent wine.
Another option for eating is to take a short walk through the gardens to the Doña Paula restaurant, famous not only for its excellent dining but also as a historic location associated with the sheltering of 120 patriots fighting for Chilean independence more than 200 years ago. It is because of this association that the estate’s best selling wine is called “120”.
- Visit the “Cellar of the 120 Patriots” to learn about the cellaring process.
- Indulge yourself and your friends back home with gifts from the on-site shop, which is brimming with ideas.
- An excellent place on a very hot day is the nearby Museo Andino (Andean Museum), which has excellent displays of local historic and prehistoric artefacts and art set in a building that is cool and striking. A highlight is the gold room.
- Don’t forget the other vineyards and wineries in the area. Why not take a full-day guided tour so that you can sample the extensive range of the Maipo Valley?
