In short, all year round. The high season of November to February offer the longest days of up to 17 hours of sunlight whilst the shoulder season of September to October or March to April offer even more exclusivity but shorter days. Winter months of May to August brings in low temperatures, however from a puma tracking perspective, photography can be fantastic with the contrast against the snow.
Journey into the heart of the stunning Patagonian wilderness, where you’ll use advanced tracking technology to seek out Chile's elusive apex predator in its natural habitat, gaining a deeper understanding of the region's remarkable wildlife.
Your guide will keep an eye out for signs of puma activity on-route and point out interesting aspects of the Patagonian wilderness rarely observed from a vehicle. The cameras will remain in the field, and you’ll receive periodic updates with the latest footage, keeping you connected to the project even after your visit.
Mirko will introduce you to his work with the “livestock guardian” Pyrenees herding dogs. These dogs are raised with the sheep, as part of the flock, breeding their famous protective instincts. You’ll participate in a field session to observe the expertly trained dogs in action and see, firsthand, how they protect the flock.
Finish your day with a sunset game drive back to your accommodation, a prime time for observing all of Patagonia’s wildlife.
