Delfin III
Afloat in the Amazon
A small boutique showcases handcrafted pieces from local communities, and sturdy skiffs carry guests into Pacaya‑Samiria’s flooded forest for wildlife viewing and exploration. Together, these facilities shape a journey that balances comfort, sociability and a strong sense of place.
Entering this protected area means travelling through one of Peru’s richest wildlife corridors, where pink river dolphins, sloths and extraordinary birdlife thrive. The reserve’s scale and remoteness give the cruise a sense of genuine immersion in the Upper Amazon’s most biodiverse landscapes.
The ship offers four classes of staterooms and suites, all spacious and well appointed, each with large picture windows framing the passing forest. Air conditioning keeps interiors comfortable in the humid climate, complemented by fine linens, a pillow menu, plush bathrobes and therapeutic bath amenities.
Communal areas occupy the top deck, where guests gather on the Sun Deck for yoga or a dip in the plunge pool before moving into the Canopy Lounge for lectures, cultural performances and Peruvian cookery classes. Treatments in the Rainforest Spa draw on ingredients sourced from Amazonian plants.
As one of the first Relais & Châteaux vessels, Delfin III delivers gastronomic excellence as the rainforest slips by outside. Its scale – never more than 43 guests – and Peruvian ownership give the cruise an intimate, locally rooted character.
- Glide through Pacaya‑Samiria’s flooded forest by skiff, tracing narrow creeks and mirror‑still lagoons alive with birdlife, sloths and pink river dolphins.
- Join naturalist‑led jungle walks, stepping into seasonally submerged forest to spot frogs, insects, medicinal plants and the reserve’s extraordinary biodiversity.
- Head out on sunrise and sunset wildlife outings, watching the forest shift colour and behaviour as day breaks and night gathers.
- Kayak on calm blackwater channels, moving quietly through reflections and overhanging vegetation with only the sounds of the forest around you.
- Fish for piranha and other Amazon species, learning traditional techniques before releasing the catch back into the reserve.
- Venture out on a night safari, scanning for caiman, bats and nocturnal creatures under the beam of your guide’s flashlight.
- Visit local communities near the reserve, meeting families who live along the river and gaining insight into life shaped by seasonal floods and forest resources.
Its sociable scale suits travellers who enjoy the energy of a slightly larger vessel – though it still carries only 43 guests – and who appreciate slick, attentive service.

From the Team
“This boat is polished, and she an can add an extra sheen to anyone who travels on her thanks to the Rainforest Spa. Therapies draw on ingredients used for generations in the region – copaiba to soothe tired muscles, andiroba to ease inflammation, aguaje to nourish the skin, and aromatic forest oils that carry the scent of the Amazon itself.”
