Laba Fanjove Island
Location
White sand beaches fringe the shoreline, backed by swaying palms, and offshore there are 11 kilometres of vibrant coral reef; a pristine environment that’s home to spinner dolphins, green turtles, and abundant reef fish. Seasonally, humpback whales migrate through the surrounding waters, adding to the island’s extraordinary biodiversity and making Fanjove a rare sanctuary of natural beauty and ecological richness in East Africa.

The entire property has been planned to leave as little of an environmental impact as possible. All of the rooms are powered by solar energy, and the structures are made of sustainable wood, thatch, and mukuti (palm leaves).
Experiences
- Walk along the Fangrove Nature Trial whilst your local guide shares their knowledge of the island's history and customs of the island.
- Embark on a marine safari for a chance to spot and possibly swim with spinner dolphins and bottlenose dolphins.
- With visibility of up to 30 metres and beautiful warm waters, snorkelling provides the best way to look at the underwater marine gardens.
- Grab your binoculars and head to the secluded look-outs to watch the migratory birds in this lush habitat (November-March)
- At low tide, the island is blessed with an idyllic white sandbank that’s perfect for a barbeque lunch. It’s a favourite spot for the dolphins too.
