Kafue River Tented Camp
Location
Accommodation
This place may be splendid, but it was developed with sustainability in mind. Structures were made from local materials, photovoltaic energy is harvested using parabolic reflectors, and the local community was both employed in construction and continues to staff the camp.
There’s no need to risk hippos and crocodiles to cool off because tents come with private plunge pools, and there’s a shared swimming pool with an adjacent wellness area. The site, with two flanking islands, provided ample opportunity to construct other luxurious and restful spaces – all with superb views over the river and surrounding plains – such as a restaurant, bar, lounge and traditional African boma. The camp’s pier provides exclusive boat access for river trips.
Experiences
- Boat safaris are a speciality of the camp, thanks to a dedicated jetty served by a shady, stable craft. Look beyond the hippos and crocs, and you’ll see a huge array of wildlife attracted to the river.
- Game drives through Zambia’s oldest and largest national park always yield a rewarding safari experience. The park is extremely well managed, so you’ll see animals rather than other people.
- Make sure you venture out on a night safari. Whether it’s in a vehicle or on a boat, it is thrilling to see eyes shining in the spotlights.
- Walking safaris are always amazing, particularly in the company of an expert guide who will point out the plants and smaller animals. Tracking an animal by spoor on foot is also a highlight.
- Spend time in the boma, chilling with new friends while looking up to the spectacular African night sky.
Zambia is the path less-travelled, which means that a safari here is always one with guaranteed privacy. It’s also an experience of how African exploration always used to be, with bush camps deep in game-rich territory and walking safaris led by expert guides. Authenticity can still be comfortable, so amazing food and perfectly-placed accommodation are just as Zambian as the wilderness.
Indulge in a luxurious Zambian getaway. Start with the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, then venture into the wilderness for an exclusive safari, encountering Zambia's diverse wildlife while unwinding in stunning accommodations, creating an unforgettable African adventure.
