Location
The camp is located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River, with beautiful views of the Nguruman Escarpment and the Loita Hills. The camp has access to over 250,000 acres of Maasai land, including the Shompole and Olkiramaitan Community Conservancies. Within this vast area, you'll find diverse landscapes such as open acacia savannahs, fig tree forests, riverine fig woodlands, the Shompole swamp, and is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including lion, leopard, buffalo and an impressive number of bird species, particularly during migratory seasons.

The camp has been designed in keeping with its beautiful surroundings offering total privacy made up of 6 tented rooms on raised wooden platforms, with en-suite bathrooms, king-sized bed, private verandas and ample lounging space.

The tents provide a serene environment where you can relax and enjoy views over the surrounding wilderness. Each tent features elements of traditional Maasai culture combined with contemporary luxury and are tastefully decorated with natural materials such as wood, canvas, and stone, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that complements the stunning surroundings.
For families, an additional children’s tent can be set up on the wooden deck or veranda, providing a separate sleeping space. Simply furnished with two single camp beds, side tables, and a private zip entrance, it offers a cosy retreat for younger guests. Access to the shared bathroom is available through the parents’ main tent.

The main guest area has an open lounge and bar with elevated views down the river, a separate dining space overlooking a lawned area with hammocks. Meals are made from fresh, local ingredients and served in a communal setting, offering a social atmosphere with views of wildlife and sunsets. A swimming pool provides a refreshing escape with panoramic views across the plain. In the evenings, relax by the campfire, sharing stories under the stars.

  • Enjoy thrilling day and night game drives on both sides of the Ewaso Ng'iro River, along with birdwatching, walking safaris, bush breakfasts, scenic picnics, sundowners, and the unique chance to walk with a habituated troop of baboons alongside a knowledgeable local guide.

Through her work with South Rift Association of Land Owners (SORALO), Sam has helped to establish the Lale’enok Resource Centre which serves not only as a base for information to be collected and shared, but also serves as a conservation and ranger training centre.

In addition to lease fees, bed night fees and conservation fees, the lodge also supports paying salaries for twelve teachers and two rangers through both philanthropic donations from guests and through the conservation fees. In addition, Sam oversees donations which support local health centres and local community health workers to better provide essential services to the more remote corners of the landscape.
