Ruaha

Ruaha National Park has Tanzania’s largest population of elephants with over 12,000 migrating through each year. Somehow, the park remains one of the country’s least-visited. Why Ruaha?
If you like getting off the beaten track, Ruaha is ready to reward you with its outstanding wildlife and dramatic plateaus. The topography of Ruaha is an undulating mix of open savannahs and rocky outcrops with river systems, complex wetlands and picturesque hills dotted with baobab and acacia trees. Amongst these glorious settings are all those elephants, plus buffalo, antelope, hippo, an array of birds and a delightful number of big cats.

Though wildlife is plentiful in Ruaha, the animals here aren’t as accustomed to vehicle noise and human voices as those in the Serengeti or Tarangire, so they may be more challenging to spot – we believe this just adds to the thrill of being in the wild. Camps in Ruaha are traditional and small scale with superb local guides.
  • One of Africa’s most remote parks.
  • Diverse landscapes.
  • Home to Tanzania’s largest population of elephants.
  • Fantastic for big cats.
  • At its best during the dry season.
  • Exclusive traditional camps.
