Miavana by Time & Tide
Shore
Thrillingly remote, Miavana is like a different world – and that same chopper by which you must arrive opens up a world of lemurs, baobabs and the extraordinary landscapes of Madagascar’s far north. Back on the island, the expert team at the Activity Centre ensures you strike the perfect balance between deep relaxation and making the most of this remarkable place.
Location
With 85% of its species found nowhere else on the planet, Madagascar is a wildlife paradise. It’s also a melting pot of cultures, from its Austronesian Borneo settlers to its African, Arab and French additions. Malagasy culture – including its food – is as fascinating as its ecosystems.
Accommodation
Each has a private plunge pool, an open-plan lounge, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a kitchenette, indoor and outdoor showers, and a study that can be converted into a children’s room. As if that weren’t enough, there’s also a personal butler service, and each villa comes with electric bikes and a golf buggy.
The Activity Centre is where all the water sports and other excursions are arranged, and with 100 team members dedicating themselves to guests, you can rest assured that things always go smoothly here. Want the whole place to yourself? Miavana can also be booked for exclusive use, and you can bring 40 friends.
Experiences
- Set out on guided forest walks with Miavana’s expert naturalists, searching for reintroduced lemurs and discovering orchids, geckos, sunbirds, hoopoes and giant land crabs along the way.
- Dive into water‑based adventures, from snorkelling and scuba to paddleboarding, kitesurfing, mangrove drifting in a dugout, and world‑class fishing.
- Lose yourself in the Cabinet de Curiosities, Miavana’s private natural‑history museum, home to butterfly collections, an elephant‑bird egg, a pygmy‑hippo skeleton, antique manuscripts and ancient armour.
- Lift off by helicopter to explore Madagascar’s wild north: spiny limestone Ankarana, blood-red Tsingy Rouge, towering baobab stands, and other landscapes unreachable by road.
- Roam the island by quadbike or e‑bike, tracing sandy tracks to the lighthouse and hidden coves.
- Visit a nearby Malagasy community, meeting local residents and learning about traditions, livelihoods and contemporary island life.
- Cross to Tattersali Camp in the Daraina reserve, joining Fanamby rangers to seek the critically endangered Golden‑Crowned Sifaka, Crowned Lemur and Ankarana Sportive Lemur.

From the Team
“I’m an unashamed lemur fan, and Madagascar is paradise: more than a hundred species, each with its own quirks. From Miavana it’s just a short helicopter hop to the mainland, where you step straight into the realm of the Golden‑Crowned Sifaka, the rare Black Lemur and Perrier’s Sifaka. Irresistible.”

It is not only the Galapagos which has giant tortoise! You can find them in the Seychelles too. These extraordinary reptiles grow up to four feet long, weigh as much as 770 lbs, and some of them are more than 100 years old. They’ve survived here because their populations were isolated, protecting them against predators. Spotting them is a rare treat, as they are found in so few other places.
