Rio Palena
You’ll be staying right in the heart of Chilean Patagonia, with access to a helicopter to take you out to the most remote areas for skiing, hiking and fishing.
Combine this with cosy, comfortable suites, a private chef creating bespoke cuisine, and tranquil river views and you have the perfect Patagonian retreat.
The Palena Suite, bigger than the rest with a separate living area, has its own private deck where you can enjoy your hot morning coffee in the fresh Patagonian air before embarking on the day of adventure that awaits you.
Dinners round the communal table, adjacent to the beautiful river-stone fireplace, will probably include the country’s version of shepherd’s pie; “pastel de choclo”.
Guests can chill out or be more adventurous with potential lodge-based activities ranging from oversized board games, to axe-throwing, to karaoke.
- The lodge excels when it comes to outdoor pursuits with a wide variety of activities available including stand-up paddle boarding, wild swimming, inflatable kayaking, climbing and horseback riding.
- You will be in an ideal spot for fly-fishing. The area is famous for large wild rainbow and brown trout, and the lodge can provide all your equipment, as well as a helicopter to take you out to the very best fishing locations.
- In the winter time you can take a helicopter out to the best skiing spots and explore the untracked snowy Patagonian backcountry at whatever pace suits you.
- If you are after an adrenaline hit, try white water rafting on the Rio Futaleufú, famous for its challenging rapids.
- At the end of a busy day, climb into a wood-fired hot tub, relax and soothe your muscles as you gaze up at the sparkling Patagonian night sky.
