Location
Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is an exclusive malaria free game reserve situated in the heart of the Northern Cape Province. It is the largest private reserve in the country, offering the ultimate safari experience in vast, pristine wilderness.
Accommodation
The Motse comprises nine spacious air-conditioned suites. Each suite has an open fireplace in the large bedroom, en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor heated shower, with the outdoor shower looking out across the Kalahari plain as well as a private sun deck. A separate dressing room area can be easily converted into a small second bedroom for younger children.
There are also three family suites which have two separate bedroom suites with private bathrooms, a spacious living room and a private terrace. There is a spectacular central lounge and dining area with an open fireplace, a spa, swimming pool and sun deck, boma and a mezzanine library. The surroundings are elegantly simple with a swimming pool opening to the remarkable scene of animals drinking at a nearby watering hole.
Experiences
On daily exciting game drives possible sightings might include the Kalahari black-maned lions, the endangered desert black rhino, unusual antelope species such as roan, sable and tsessebe or cheetah brothers hunting across the open plains.
There is the option to take a horseback safari with a qualified guide, enabling guests to become one with nature and to experience particularly close encounters with all manner of wildlife as you ride amongst them. Bird-watching, star-gazing and unique visits to the habituated meerkat dens are just some of the other activities on offer at Tswalu.
For those that wish to, there is also the opportunity to experience a spectacular Malori sleep out under the stars. This incredible star bed is in a remote location some distance from the lodge and promotes an exciting feeling of remoteness with only the sounds of the African bush for company.

Other animal species indigenous to the Kalahari, including black-maned lions, black rhinos and wild dogs, have been successfully reintroduced and are thriving.

Tswalu provides a number of services and facilities, including a health care centre that provides free primary health care and health education not only to all staff and their families on the reserve but to anyone in need in the remote, rural communities surrounding the property.
