Location

Koros Camp is nestled into a remote and rugged landscape near the small village of South Horr. This exclusive-use, authentic bush camp is the perfect base to explore one of Africa’s most untouched regions. The camp is surrounded by stunning vistas of rocky outcrops, vast plains, and dramatic mountain ranges, and the area's stark beauty is matched by its rich cultural heritage and biodiversity. The camp itself is a little oasis of comfort and tranquillity in an otherwise harsh landscape.

Accommodation

Accommodation is in six thatched bandas each equipped with canvas and shade-net sides that open to capture expansive views, allowing full immersion in the surrounding beauty. The rooms are furnished with either twin or double beds, and solar-powered fans ensure comfort even during the hottest days. Ensuite bathroom facilities include safari-style bucket showers and flush toilets.
The spacious and open-plan mess area serves as a central hub for dining and relaxation. It also houses a well-stocked bar, a collection of books for reading, games to play, and comfortable seating perfect for unwinding or enjoying a midday siesta.

The pool area offers a refreshing breeze, making it a popular spot to relax during the afternoons. Perched at the highest point of the camp, it also provides a stunning setting for enjoying sundowners. Koros is a charming, beautifully styled camp that blends with the natural semi-desert landscape.

Community
Community
Koros Camp places a strong emphasis on supporting the local community. It works closely with the indigenous Samburu, Rendille, and Turkana tribes, providing economic opportunities through employment, cultural exchanges, and the sale of locally made crafts. A portion of the camp’s revenue is allocated to community projects, such as education, healthcare, and clean water initiatives. The camp also promotes cultural preservation by offering guests a chance to interact with local communities and learn about their traditions, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
Environment
Environment
Environmental sustainability is at the core of Koros Camp’s operations. The camp relies on solar energy to power its facilities, reducing reliance on non-renewable resources. Waste management practices, such as recycling and composting, are actively implemented to ensure minimal waste production. Water conservation measures, including the use of eco-showers and water-efficient systems, are designed to preserve this precious resource in the arid region.
